City of Akron Hosting Free Tumble Together Washing and Drying Event on March 5, 2025

Mayor Malik is announcing the City of Akron will host another Tumble Together FREE washing and drying event at the West Side Laundromat located at 853 Copley Rd. on Wednesday, March 5, from 3pm-7pm. The city will provide free washing and drying for up to three (3) loads of laundry per household. The event is only open to City of Akron residents.
The city hosted three previous Tumble Together events in 2024, helping 97 families do over 300 loads of laundry. This program was made possible through grant funding from ServeOhio, the state's Commission on Service and Volunteerism and the City of Akron. The city previously partnered with the Summit County Continuum of Care to help run and promote these events in 2024.
“I believe everyone deserves the dignity of clean clothing,” said Mayor Malik. “The feedback from these events last year was so positive and expressed a continued need for free washing and drying events to help those without access to a washer or dryer in their home. When times are hard, clean laundry can sometimes become a luxury and we’re proud to step in to help provide this small dignity to folks in need.”
City representatives and volunteers will be on hand for this event to help our residents. Residents will be required to wash their own clothes for free. Detergent, dryer sheets and meals will also be provided for free.
If you would like to volunteer or make donations to support these events, please email Summer Hall at slhall@akronohio.gov.
